Welcome to the latest Ancon newsletter. This month we preview the new products Ancon will exhibit at Ecobuild 2016, the UK's leading exhibition and conference for sustainable construction. We are also pleased to confirm that our MBT couplers have become the first reinforcing bar splicing system to be approved by HAPAS. 

Next Generation Innovations @Ecobuild 2016, Stand E3080

Ancon will exhibit a number of new products on stand E3080 at Ecobuild 2016 taking place at ExCeL, London from 8-10 March 2016.

Developed in partnership with cut-brick specialist, Ibstock-Kevington, the new Nexus® system is a lightweight simple-to-install solution to creating flawless brick soffits in any brick type. It combines brick-faced offsite-manufactured building modules with Ancon’s MDC brick support angle to provide quick and easy alignment on site.

Reflecting the sustainability theme of the exhibition, a newly-extended range of Ancon insulated stainless steel connectors will be on show. These thermal breaks enable designers to maintain structural integrity at steel and concrete balcony interfaces without compromising on thermal efficiency. 

For PassivHaus and Zero Carbon projects, an exciting extension to the award-winning Teplo range of ultra-low conductivity basalt fibre wall ties will be launched. By minimising insulation depth and wall footprint, these unique wall ties are already helping to shape low energy building design and this latest product development will see them become more user friendly for the installer. The Teplo-BF is coming soon. Watch this space!

HAPAS-approved rebar couplers are another first from Ancon 

Ancon’s MBT mechanically-bolted couplers are the first reinforcing bar splicing system to be approved by HAPAS, the Highway Authorities Product Approval Scheme.

This approval provides additional independent assurance of the product’s suitability for infrastructure developments. HAPAS approvals are issued by the British Board of Agrément and supported by Highways England, acting on behalf of the Department for Transport, Transport Scotland, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Department for Regional Development Northern Ireland.

MBT-ET type couplers have been rigorously assessed to a pre-agreed national approval arrangement that removes the need for individual UK highway authorities to carry out their own assessment of the product.

The bolted couplers are ideal for use when cutting out and replacing corroded reinforcement as part of a highway maintenance contract, where bar end threading or rotation would be impossible.

Ancon and Ibstock make light work of brick soffits

Ancon backs CARES campaign 

Ancon’s latest range of reinforcing bar couplers are designed to operate at cryogenic temperatures. Typical applications include the construction of steel-lined concrete storage tanks for refrigerated liquefied gas (LNG/LPG).

Creating flawless brick-faced soffits and lintels has now become much simpler and quicker, thanks to a new lightweight stainless steel based system developed by two industry-leading companies - Ancon Building Products and Ibstock Kevington.

As manufacturer of the CARES-approved Eazistrip continuity system, Ancon is supporting the Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels campaign over its concerns at the continued use of non-approved re-bend reinforcement continuity systems.
