Welcome to the latest Ancon newsletter. This month we're announcing the extension of our thermally insulated balcony connector range and that our BIM Objects now come in three new file formats - ArchiCAD, Vectorworks and Bentley.

New insulated balcony connectors launched

Ancon has extended its existing balcony connector range to include three new thermally insulated systems designed to minimise the effects of cold bridging at concrete to concrete, concrete to steel and steel to steel interfaces.

The cold bridge formed by direct-fix balconies or where a continuous reinforced concrete slab is used can seriously affect a building’s thermal performance and lead to problems with condensation and mould growth. The new Ancon systems, called Isotec, STC and STS, are designed to provide an effective thermal break whilst maintaining full structural integrity.

Ancon has extended its connector range as balconies are an increasingly popular feature in the residential sector. These systems enable designers to add stylish balconies to high density housing without compromising the thermal performance of the building envelope.

New BIM Objects launched

After the successful launch of our comprehensive BIM Object library we are pleased to announce that Ancon objects are now available in 3 new file formats.

Available from the NBS National BIM Library, and shortly to be made available from the Ancon website, these new data-rich BIM objects are now available in ArchiCAD, Vectorworks and Bentley file formats as well as Revit and IFC.

Offered as part of the NBS portfolio, each file has been quality-checked by the NBS team, catalogued in line with the National Building Specification and has a product structure designed to work seamlessly with the BIM specification tool NBS Create.

Our BIM objects cover a wide range of products, including standard cavity wall ties and other masonry restraints, masonry supports, windposts and masonry reinforcement, tension bar systems, shear load connectors, stud rails and reinforcement continuity systems; all of which are critical to the structural integrity of a building and essential to an accurate BIM model.

Literature Updates: Masonry Support & Stud Rails

Ancon Donates Stainless Steel Centenary Seat

Ancon and leading brick manufacturer Ibstock had success at this year's Ecobuild exhibition with over 800 visitors to our joint stand.

We've recently updated our literature on our CE-Marked masonry support and lintel range, and our CARES-approved shearfix punching reinforcement.

We've manufactured a specially commissioned centenary seat for a Sheffield museum to mark 100 years since the discovery of stainless steel.
