KSN Anchors represent a completely new approach to reinforcement continuity at slab-to-wall construction joints. They have been ‘Highly Commended’ in the CONSTRUCT Innovation Award, which recognises excellence and innovation in the concrete industry. Unlike traditional re-bend continuity boxes, where bar length, spacing and diameter are restricted by physical box dimensions, the KSN Anchor system offers greater design flexibility and is faster and safer to install. The internally threaded anchors are simply cast into the wall and, during construction of the adjoining slab, accept standard Bartec threaded continuation bars. The KSN Anchor system removes the need for on-site bar straightening and eliminates the associated safety concerns. It also easily accommodates the longer rebar lap lengths now required by Eurocode 2 and allows multiple anchors to be installed simultaneously saving time. 2,500 linear metres of KSN anchors have been used to connect pre-fabricated panels to in-situ cast slabs across four floors on Liverpool’s showpiece £167 million ‘Alder Hey in the Park’ hospital project.
